Meet Dr. Janelle Walker

I was the neighborhood kid who brought home strays and tried to nurse injured birds and squirrels back to health. Following a double major of Biology and Microbiology, I received my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1992 and have been a dedicated veterinarian ever since. As a pet owner all my life, I know how stressful it can be to bring a beloved family pet to the veterinarian for care. That’s why after starting Best Friends Veterinary in 2001, I’ve been working ever since to create a better, more comfortable way.

When the weather cooperates (and sometimes when it’s not!), you’ll find me on hiking trails with my dogs, gardening or riding my bike for miles across the countryside.

Our Staff

Lacey

Lead Receptionist

Hi, my name is Lacey! I was born in California but have lived in Oregon most of my life. Growing up I always asked my parents if I could take all the animals I found home to be my pet. I now one dog, Blue, who is my best friend. I’ve always wanted to work with animals and Best Friends Vet has made that dream come true.

If I’m not working, I’m probably out finding new trails to go on walks with my dog. Spending time with my family or tending to my house plants.

Claudia

Receptionist

Hi, my name is Claudia. I was born in Mexico but raised in Oregon after arriving here at the age of five. My love of animals began from my summers spent visiting my grandparents, who had pigs and cows. One of my best memories I have was lovely summer afternoon walks with my grandpa and his dog named Oso (Bear).

It’s been amazing working at Best Friends Veterinary and having the opportunity to learn about and help these wonderful lifelong friends!

When I’m not working you will find me spending time with my family, out exploring nature or finding new places to eat with my best friend.

Paige

Lead Veterinary Technician

Hi, my name is Paige! Born and raised in Oregon, I have grown up playing competitive softball my whole life and absolutely loved it. I’ve also always had a passion for animals and, if I could, I would own them all. It has always been a dream of mine to work with animals in a vet clinic. Best Friends Veterinary has given me the opportunity to make my dream come true.

When I’m not at work you can find me playing with my two Blue Heelers or hanging out with my boyfriend and family.

Shannon

Veterinary Technician/Receptionist
Hi, my name is Shannon! I was born in Montana but moved to Oregon shortly before high school.

I have known forever that I wanted to be around animals, and when I found Best Friends Veterinary, I knew it was the best place to continue my animal career path! I love gaining more and more knowledge so I can help as many animals as possible.

When I’m not working, I am spending time with my dog, Duke, or looking for the next member of my family to adopt!

Success From Alicia

Former Best Friends Lead Technician
Now Veterinary School Student

I worked at Best Friends Veterinary Medical Center for almost 2 ½ years. Dr. Walker and James took a chance on me, but that’s what they do. They take anyone willing to learn, and they teach you. I came to Best Friends Veterinary with a huge passion for animals but little to no actual veterinary technician skills. My goal was to build up experience so that I could get into vet school. Thanks to the wonderful people there, I’m so happy my dreams are coming true. The only reason I left Best Friends was to start vet school.

My time at Best Friends has molded me into the person I am today. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Walker, James, my amazing co-workers, and of course the loyal clients and patients there.

This job is for anyone with a passion for animals who wants to get their foot in the door in the veterinary setting. If you are willing to put in the effort, take the time to learn and have a desire to help, I promise you won’t regret applying.
